Piston pin? Why would you need to replace a piston pin? Usually the piston pin is a very hard metal that is lubricated by engine oil, and it fits in a piston pin boss that is much softer material. If the clearance between the pin and boss are greater than .001 inches, then you should replace the piston, not the pin. Use a micrometer to verify that the pin is not worn out, usually the thinnest point will be in the center where the connecting rod bearing wears against the pin.
If you're replacing a piston pin that was lost, then make sure that the pin is a push fit into the piston, it should slide in with some pressure but should not be able to move side-to-side or up-and-down when installed in the piston.
