What kind of bike do you need to pass the motorcycle skills test in CA?

I am getting a Yamaha Vino 125cc scooter, and I need to get my M2 class license. The guy at the dealership said that I would need to take the motorcycle skills test at the DMV on a 250cc or higher bike. Then again, he also suggested that the cops are not going to bother me if I don't have a license for the scooter. Is he right?

I dont think they will give you a test for a motorcycle license useing a scooter :P because you would'nt have any skills pretaining to operateing a motorcycle.

Get atleast a 750cc so you wont get a ticket for holding up traffic.

Probably they will, if you are stopped for any other reason. Take the class its a lot of fun and you learn safety measure to use in traffic. Also you get a little break on your insurance.
Reply:I do not know, but I bet if you try, they will snatch you up, call a tow truck to carry your Vino away forever, loch the door and throw the book at you.

See if there is a BASIC RIDER COURSE near you and ask to be put on the waiting list, for a drop out. (the classes fill up in advance for the riding season, which usually means SUMMER. If you pass, it fulfils the state's requirements for a license, at least it does in other states.

So call around, you use THEIR bike and YES they usually have 250s, with standard transmissions. The class is rather high, but it is frequently subsidised by the state. (gotta pay for the gas and use of the bike, right?) Sounds ideal, for you, it may cover things you will not do again, but it is a skill ands takes practise like anything else.

And you might wind up qualified to ride anything on two or three wheels.
