Yamaha 82 xv750 Virago How do I remove the allen head cap screw from the very bottom of fork it just turns.?

If you have already taken the springs out of the top, put them back in and try again. You need some pressure on the damper rod (what the screw is screwed into) to turn that screw out.





Sometimes, they get stuck and you need more pressure on the damper rod. Take the fork caps off the top, one at a time and remove the spring (careful, the springs may try to fly out of the tubes, they press up against the cap.). Stick a broom handle down the tube until it bottoms. Have a helper press down while you try to remove the screw.





Last resort, use an impact driver to remove the screw. Unfortunately, this can result in breakage if you aren't careful, but at least you will be able to get the damper rod out.
